Tshirt No. 6

This will be your final assignment and it must included the following element and design requirements:
1. Must be original artwork...this means that your work will be done by hand and then scanned and developed in Photoshop.
2. This will be 11 x 17 or 8 x 10
3. Use two screens if necessary
4. Include at least two ideas or concepts in screen printing that were covered in the term. These may include: registration, traps, halftone, modifying the textile, etc.
5. Extend the idea with one design element that is your own development. Your originality and inventiveness in extending the ideas covered to date is an indications that you are engaged in the artistic process.

Final Mark requirements

Students will have six tshirt designs completed, photographed and posted on ther blog before a final marks can be given,

The six shirt designs include:
1. Cut line...this image can be provided without the model and photo.
2. First one colour print
3. Second one colour print...ideally should be a halftone.
4. First 11 x 17 print
5. Second 11 x 17 two colour print
6. Extended idea and original artwork design.

Current issues

Current issue assignment


 

  1. Two shirts designs – the first design can be used for the second design.
  2. One of the above designs must have two colours.
  3. One of the designs must have a halftone image.

Consider the colour scheme and use colour combinations that have impact.

Cutline

Steps:

  1. Create your artwork and save as JPEG
  2. While in Photoshop flatten image and select your graphic using the selection tools available to you.
  3. While selecting, use the expand option in the selection menu. Expand by 4-8 pixels in order to get a cutline that has a distance from the artwork.
  4. In the layers pallet select the paths option and load the selection to create a path.
  5. Export the path to Illustrator.
  6. Open Illustrator and place the JPEG. Deselect the JPEG.
  7. Open the path and copy paste it into the JPEG file created in step #6.
  8. Use the arrow tools to align the path with the JPRG image.

Save the file as an EPS file and you are done!

Social Issue Assignment



The social issue assignment involve several components. First, you will be expected to research an issue that is relevant to you. This issue will be supported by links on your link list. The links may be related to the images that you have collected or they may simply be a source of words and thoughts that support your issue. You should collect from several sources and collect images that you will later edit. An important consideration in the collection process is to allow the subconscious determine what is collectible. If it is of any interest collect it and edit later.

You will create a one colour image that will include several elements. These elements are as follows: two or three seperate images that are combined, type and and indication of the colour scheme. You may include a halftone image. Your image will be presented on you blog and it will exist as a blackline ready for film printing.

3. Toolbox ( link list with web URLs )
4. Vinyl cut graphic ( indicate if it is to be printed )
5. Vinyl cut with t-shirt template ( position on shirt )
6. Social issue one colour and two colour ( includes line art, halftone, tpye )
7. Two colour seperation with traps

All assignments must be complete posted and acceptable before any lab work.
