Two Colour Screen Assignment

The two colour seperation involves selecting out each colour onto a seperate layer with the pen tool. The pen tool is a good first option for the selection process as it create a recognizable line art look. There are other option in Photoshop that can be used for the selection process and they will be considered in future assignments. For this assignment stay with the pen tool.
When you have made your selections and have each seledtion positioned onto seperate layers, you will have to create a "trap" on the darker colour so that there will be a slight overlap on the lighter colour. This trap is a step that will make your registration of the two colour project much easier when you lining up the two colours.

Halftone Image

The process of creating a halftone begins with a greyscale image that is approximately 200dpi. Create the image in Photoshop by changing the greyscale image into a bitmap image. Bitmap setting should beas follows for a 155 mesh count screen.

Output resolution 200dpi
Select halftone bitmap image
Screen angle for one screen seperation is 45 degrees
Dot shape is elipse
Frequency is approximately 30 lpi

Before printing to film, print out a laser version to determine if the dot pattern lines up properly. It is impossible to predict the line patterns on screen because of the dot patterns on the monitor.
